Immigrating to Canada from South Africa via the Provincial Nominee Program

Provincial Nominee Programs are perfect for those who have done their research and have already decided on which province they would like to live in. To begin this process you will have to select a province or territory in which you would like to live and check to see if you meet their specific criteria. The following provinces or territories have Provincial Programs in place

  • Alberta
  • Manitoba
  • Newfoundland and Labrador
  • Prince Edward Island
  • Yukon
  • British Columbia
  • New Brunswick
  • Nova Scotia
  • Saskatchewan
  • Ontario
  • Quebec

It should be emphasised that you must be interested in living and working in the specific province that you choose as it is a requirement that you immigrate to the province that has selected you for immigration.

With the new Express Entry system you now need to either have your Provincial Nomination in place and then submit your application via the Express Entry system OR you need to be in Express Entry and then apply under one of the Express Entry Provincial Nominee Programs in order to be nominated.

Being nominated by a province or territory will not guarantee that you will be successful in immigrating to Canada. You still need to submit your full application to  Citizenship and Immigration Canada for review in order to become a permanent resident of Canada. There is always a possibility that your application could be refused if you are inadmissible or cannot provide the correct documents on your final submission. Once you arrive at the Canadian border you will be screened again to ensure that you still comply with the requirements of the program you were selected under and that you still intend to reside in that specific province.

You can get the best advice on the specific province that suits your needs and eligibility by contacting our regulated Canadian immigration consultant.

The current fees for a Permanent Residency application under the Provincial Nominee Program (excluding up front provincial fees) are as follows:

  • $550 CAD for the main applicant
  • $550 CAD for the spouse of the main applicant
  • $150 CAD per dependent of the main applicant under 19 years of age
  • Application to the Province varies and you can be given a quote from your selected province
